About the Annual Symposium
Each year, the LSI brings together top scientists from a range of disciplines to share work around a common theme.
The event represents the LSI’s most important values: excellence in science, investment in high-impact research, and the spark that happens when researchers with varied expertise exchange ideas, methods, and insights.
The symposium was baked into the institute's DNA from the very beginning — with the first event in 2002 happening while construction on the LSI building was still underway.
In 2016 the event was named the Saltiel Life Sciences Symposium to honor the contributions of former director Alan Saltiel.
This Year's Symposium
The 2018 Saltiel Life Sciences Symposium will bring pioneers in the field of single cell biology to the University of Michigan to discuss the scientific advances driving the field forward. The speakers’ broad areas of expertise — from neuroscience, to immunology, to computer science and computational biology — reflect the widespread applicability and relevance of single cell research techniques.
