The LSI Trainees Career Talk Series is a monthly professional development and networking event hosted by the LSI Trainees. These events feature conversations with a U-M graduate working in a science-related field, including representatives from non-academic career paths such as pharma scientists, biotech entrepreneurs, intellectual property lawyers working with biomedical invention, investors in health sciences and science communicators. This series is open to all students and postdocs at the LSI and others by invitation. 
 
This month's speaker is Richard Douglas, (Ph.D., UC-Berkeley; BS, U-M), who has over 30 years of biotechnology experience and is on the board of directors of Novavax and of MaxCyte, chairman of the board of Aldeyra Therapeutics and an advisor to Red Sky Partners. Until 2011,  Douglas was the senior vice president of corporate development at Genzyme Corporation. He is a member of the LSI's Leadership Council and of the external advisory board for Michigan Drug Discovery, as well as chair of the U-M Technology Transfer National Advisory Board.
