The Roger D. Cone LSI Explorer Program provides opportunities for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to engage in a the diverse array of campus offerings across the University of Michigan, from music and art to history and sports.
To encourage our community members to enjoy free time away from the bench and connect with peers from other LSI labs, the program provides funding for LSI trainees to attend university concerts, theater performances, athletic games, behind-the-scenes tours of campus and community-building social outings. Through the Explorer Program, trainees are immersed in the vibrant campus community and experience what “Go Blue!” really means.
In 2026, the program was named the Roger D. Cone LSI Explorer program—thanks to an endowment made possible by the generous support of the LSI’s Leadership Council, Scientific Advisory Board, faculty and friends—ensuring that LSI Director Roger Cone's dedication to breaking down scientific silos and fostering appreciation of all that the university offers will continue to impact LSI scientists for years to come.
