Send to friendTreating Neurodegenerative Disease
Targeting the protein quality control pathway yields results in treating Alzheimer’s and other diseases
By targeting the protein quality control pathway, Gestwicki and his lab aim to create drugs that will ultimately stop the protein misfolding that causes neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and others. They are currently tweaking the compounds they have developed and are on track for starting human clinical trials in the near future.
“Getting an experienced mentor group
in place who can see the entire
trajectory of your project and place
it in context...is so valuable.”
—Dr. Jason Gestwicki
