Bacterial Infection: Focusing on a key pathway that controls the virulence of Strep and other infections
Bacterial infections affect several millions of people each year in the U.S. alone, and thousands more cases of Group A strep are reported, which can be deadly. By investigating how the human body uses blood clots to protect itself as well as how bacterial infections circumvent those clots, the Ginsburg lab is developing compounds that could halt the process that allows bacterial infections to spread through the body.
“We wouldn’t have pursued the project
to the stage that we’re at now without
the funding and advice provided by
the Innovation Partnership.”
