Dr. Ivan Maillard is a practicing oncologist who researches blood-forming stem cells to increase understanding of leukemia and other cancers, dividing his time between his lab at the LSI and a clinic at the U-M Cancer Center. One of his patients, a woman in her late 20s named Becky Dykes, has stage 4 histiocytic sarcoma, a very rare cancer. In an interview featured on Dr. Frank McGeorge's "Good Health" segment on Detroit's WDIV-TV news, Dr. Maillard explains how his research pointed him to a novel and promising treatment for her.
