The Life Sciences Institute houses 22 faculty members leading more than 400 researchers and staff, including about 100 graduate and undergraduate students. 

Two boards, the Scientific Advisory Board and the Leadership Council, comprised of leaders in life sciences, biotechnology, academia and government advise and support the institute. The LSI is governed by a regentally approved Executive Committee of U-M faculty and administrators.
