Garneau-Tsodikova lab develops a non-radioactive method to identify and characterize adenylation domains
In 2009, the Garneau-Tsodikova lab will be publishing (already available online) a manuscript in Analytical Biochemistry describing a novel way to determine substrate specificity and kinetically characterize in 96- or 384-well format adenylation domains from nonribosomal peptide synthetases. This work presents an easy and convenient alternative to the traditional ATP-[32P]PPi exchange assay.

Garneau-Tsodikova lab identifies a novel tryptophan 2,3-dioxygenase
In May 2008, the Garneau-Tsodikova lab published a manuscript in an issue of Molecular Biosystems for "Emerging Investigators" on TioF. TioF is a novel tryptophan 2,3-dioxygenase involved in the formation of the key chromophore 3-hydroxyquinaldic acid of thiocoraline. This work represents the first in vitro characterization of an enzyme involved in the biosynthesis of this bisintercalator anticancer agent.
