Bing Ye, Ph.D.
Dr. Bing Ye received his Bachelor of Science in Physiology from the Nanjing University in China. He then studied synaptic transmission in carp retina as a Master of Science student in the lab of Dr. Xiong-li Yang in Shanghai Institute of Physiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. After that, he moved to the States to pursue a Ph.D. degree in Neuroscience in the lab of Dr. Richard Huganir in Johns Hopkins University. During that period, Dr. Ye became fascinated by the highly compartmentalized features of neurons. He then joined Dr. Yuh Nung Jan's group at UCSF for his postdoctoral training. Dr. Ye combines the Drosophila and mammalian systems to study several aspects of neuron compartmentalization, including the developmental differences between dendrites and axons.
