Janet L. Smith, PhD

Dr. Smith is a Professor in the Department of Biological Chemistry, Margaret J. Hunter Collegiate Professor in the Life Sciences Institute and Director of the Center for Structural Biology. Her research focuses on understanding the complexity of protein structure and function using X-ray crystallography as a three-dimensional structural tool. Her work has elucidated the signaling pathway between active sites and some of the structural changes in the catalytic cycle of the complex enzyme, glutamine PRPP amidotransferase.
